E's Surf Report: summer time oh yeah.

April, May, June!
Best surf months of 2006.
Light crowds, light wind, light swell.
Around this time last year we were suffering.
Relentless onshores.
Nothing swell.
Down-blankets of fog.
Forgoing surf for knitting, tiddly-winks or masturbation.
Yearning for an autumnal respite that never came.

Now the morning glass is in effect.
South swells have been churning.
Sprightly NW windswells have been constant.
Sneaky sessions have presented themselves to those with coastal knowledge and curiosity.
A few reefs that happen 20 days a year.
That little sandbar you've been waiting on.

I know it's early.. but after the worst fall/winter in the last 10 years... this is possibly the best spring/summer I can remember.

Global warming freaky weather patterns?

Reasons surfers have to fear Global Warming:
- rising sea levels mean loss of low-lying atolls.
- coastal houses might be destroyed.
- low tides won't be as low.. the usual spots may stop working.
- Hot desert Baja might become even hotter.
- Andes snowpack might disappear. No fresh water for the west coast of south america.

Reasons surfers have to celebrate global warming:
- More intense storms mean more swell generation.
- Warmer oceans mean less ice-cream headaches.
- Warmer oceans means more possible surf exploration in northern latitudes.
- Rising sea levels means the creation of different spots?
- Not so many ice-cream headaches at OB.

Wow, nice pics E. Those clouds don't look real.

Last night I after surfing, I stopped to pick up a bunch of crap left over from the previous night campfire - that's becomming a real sore spot with me lately. Anyway, a lady is walking her dog and it dumps on the beach. She ignores it. I mention it to her so she walks over and kicks about 5 grains of sand on top of the pile. I mentioned to her that the idea is to pick it up and throw it away. She replies, "I don't like throwing plastic in the landfill." I tell her about the flotsom pollution including bacateria and viruses that get into the water, and in my body. She waves it off like a fly as she walks away. So, I couldn't hold back and started calling her every name I cold think of since high school. Then I felt bad for losing my temper.

What's the best response?

Ask her if she recycles her plastic bags by taking them back to the Supermarket, or some other means. If not, then she is already throwing plastic in the landfill. She might as well fill it with something useful. Then you might mention to her that the Landfill is really just one big plastic bag for all our waste so a small plastic bag inside of a big one is not going to make much difference.

And I just got out of the water and saw some poop on the beach, near the tide line. Grrr

I wonder what I would have done if it was a big gnarly looking UFC kinda guy, instead of a woman. Though I have on a few occasions lucked out after popping off at people who could've torn my head off but went home with it, (it's generally not a good idea to get confrontational with anyone (Repeat until ingrained)).

There should be a better legal solution. Could I file a complaint against the person? That would require uncanny luck of having a cop right there or getting her license plate number. Then, I'd need proof. Maybe I sould always take the GoPro camera to the beach with me...

a butterfly flaps its wings, disturbs the fly that next next lands upon the ladies dogs' poop, which then flies across the highway to fly into the window of her very own dearly held relative who just happens to have a comprimised immune system. The relative gets dysentary and dies. She then goes wandering on the beach to sooth her grief and she witnesses a dog pooping and the owner acting oblivious. She does nothing, goes home and shoes a fly off her apple and eats it while grappling with feelings of rage and anger over the incomprehensible randomness of life and death.

that is the worst excuse for not picking up after your dog i have ever heard. if she doesn't want to put plastic in the landfill she can buy biodegradable dogshit bags or use paper ones. she's just a lying sack of shit that came up with what she thought is a clever excuse. there is a fine for not picking up after your dog, i think it might even be a few hundred bucks.

In '94 I met former competitor Mike Matthews [president of Sovtek/Electro-Harmonix] at a NAMM show. We talked about effects pedals, and later he asked me if I'd be interested in re-creating the Mu-Tron III for Electro-Harmonix. The new box which is called the Q-Tron, uses the same opto-electronic design of the Mu-Tron III, but I've given it some new features and improved its specs. It will be followed by other new types of effect: devices. It's great to be involved again in the musical products industry after quite an extended "vacation."

I tried goofy footing last night on a few waves. Reminded me of my first days ever surfing. Waves were fun though and had a few friends to enjoy the evening surf. It 3/2 time!
