glass

small and glassy blah blah blah.
Longboarder scoring blah blah
blah.
Fun to ride oceanic ripples.

Danny Carey interview in Modern Drummer.
The guy has some great things to say about how he approaches musical creation.
Drumming in 6/6 with his feet and 4/4 with his hands.
Concentrating more on the collective musical sound than on his specific part.
Studying the masters.
Tony Williams.
His offshoot fusion group Volto! is pretty rad.

Quiet morning, is everyone still surfing or hard at work? I thought maybe the security was locking everyone out, but I got in sooo... Where is everybody?

I'm planning on a long day at OB. Please tell me that Thursday will be head high light off-shore sunny barrels with a nice rip to the peak at mid-beach OB.

sd rider, that guy is classic. I've surfed next to him out in the water a few times. His moniker: The Predator.

Bagel dog, where's that party at?! Sweet costumes :)

Nice collection of images this morning e. I'm lucky enough to have visted one of those points. Here's a few shots from that point and a few of the surrounding points:

I hope the guy she has demo the board is better at fighting crime than surfing.

Wow, a ref to Modern Drummer on the blog. Read the Carey article last week, funny he studies the "masters" and I study him! And the masters, of course. For anybody who doesn't know, Carey is the drummer for Tool. Age 44 and ripping. Gives me hope that I'll still be able to throw it down in my 40s. Been playing since age 7, and Carey is right up there with Stewart Copeland and a host of others as my "top" influences. It was a great read and yeah, the guy is living the dream. SF indie rock scene reprazent!

I was happy to see the morning was not dead flat, but another foot on my surfboard woulda been nice. I realize more than anything, I have trouble being in the right spot as the waves come in. Too much time between sets, too much current, not enough paddling speed. Beautiful waves to the left and right, but I seemed to connect with very few of them. Ahh...summer.
