Erotic Art

Hey hey.. The shooting Gallery is having its 4th annual erotic art show. Usually some stylish hipster, vice-mag-type folks at the openings. Suicide girls maybe?

Couple glassy olas this morning. Kdalle ruling the peak. Lerm smackin' a few. Adam from surfrider shredding. good to see.

In the new surfer mag there's a semi-detailed description of an infamous road trip from Coolangatta to Bells beach by Owl Chapman and Michael Peterson. It was back in the early 70's i think. The two of them wrecked a few cars, got busted a few times, consumed "fear and loathing" quantities of drugs, and basically raised hell. Pretty good reading.

Here is some of the art

Rode a few on the Moose board.

Glassy but short rides for me. Water seemed colder than last time I surfed.....which was when? Two weeks back?

Saw the bikini clad matron thigh deep in the briney deep and the skateboarding gal of Asian DNA on the boardwalk pushing herself along. Also saw leaping dolphins and curious sea lions, and a few surfers that I see a few times per year.

After all these years ya' wouldna think that a mere 6 week layoff could make me surf so bad. But last night confirms what I'm sure many people have thought, if not actually said: I am a total KOOK! I got in people's way; I muffed take-offs, turns; and generally SUCKED. O.K. I'm over it now - well, not really ... but isn't that what we're SUPPOSED to say when we're stuck on feeling shitty about something as trivial as a lousy surf session in crappy waves?
Oh well, I plan on giving it another go early tomorrow. So if you see an old guy with a grey goatee flailing on down the line, get out of the way, he's fucking DANGEROUS!

Fun morning for me too. Went to the beach around 6 am. It wasn't happening at my location at that time so I picked up some trash on the beach, and the path, had breakfast, showered, and took my wifes car to 6th and Mission for service, then walked to work. Yawn...

Smooth, glassy, TINY waves inside, outside southerly loooong bootiful peeling lefts...and the worst ####ing case of Wave Repellentâ„¢ since the day I discovered that horrible substance.
Floating in a bubble of flat water the entire time. Waves died within 2 ft of me, every time. When Wave Repellent is that bad, nothing will help. I know. I tried everything. It's like I smell to waves or something. Best thing is to rinse that shit off and try again later...

Worth the paddle out though.

Like Dennis, I took a pass after the 6AM dog-walk. Drove the beach and checked some spots that were taking the swell much better.

Sharkbait and Jimmie don't feel bad, I saw a lot of people missing the peaks or just laming out on waves when they came. I think there may be too much angle in this one for it to really work here. The swell of a couple weeks ago had more west in it and so worked better.

Time will tell. Too bad the Bridge is out for spots down the penisula.

So far it's not a lot of energy even at the buoy, and given the steep angle what energy there is is spread very thin at the coast too. So it doesn't matter that I've fucked up my back somehow, because the grapes are sour anyway. Sour, I tell you.

While it duly sucks that devils slide is closed. there are us sm county residents that are conflicted with joy. glassy, pulsating joy....

F1, left surf industry becuase I was tired of the toxicity and pollution of the working environment(and I built a fire marshall approved, OSHA standards facility) AND verbal handshale deals that never seemed to errr; "hold water".

i'm in the software racket now. sometimes the toxicity of making fins ain't so bad.

Good to see e and lerm out there this morning. Style of the second illustration reminds me of one of my favorites, Brad Holland

Fun waves this am if you had the right board. I opted for the new shortboard but wished I had the ole fish. If the wind picks up this weekend at least there will be the Union Street Fair to keep us entertained!!

four days of surfing compressed into 26 minutes
every take off is made and followed by either a barrel lip smack bottom turn cutback floater or all of the above ... fantasize a session like that ... be the wct

Yeah 357, I was thinking some of those Sharky Beaches in SM would be going off today. Garage Sale tomorrow so I was hoping to surf today, even drove home for lunch, but Brother Davids Triple, and Beef Stroganoff seemed the better option to small short rides in the fog.

Some ramps in the KCLB Zone today. Traveler's delight this weekend, might hit up "this many" Mile or Super-Sharky-Place-Where-Your-Tires-Get-Slashed" -- man I love that spot.

What, are there like 7 of us left posting on the niceness blog now? Very well then, peace out...

mmmm brother david's triple. i'm in the booze biz but until two weeks ago had not tried the bdt. i'm a huge fan of anderson valley brewing (drinking a leftover winter solstice as we speak). so i was drinking a pint of bdt, completely unaware that it is 10% abv. i proceeded to have another. 2 pints at 10%, even by the new math that's some tasty pain.

haven't surfed in weeks. been way too busy working on art. since e was throwing out the art vibe today, i thought i'd mention once more that i'm participating in the east bay open studios this weekend and the following. i do welded steel sculpture. so if you happen to be in the east bay any time on june 3,4,10,11 and want to check some art, stop on by. 1125 32nd st in oakland. this way, if i ever kook out and drop in on your wave you'll know where to come rough me up. then, after you've exacted your revenge, we can drink some nice brews and talk art.
