wind blows, wind swell
Posted by: snake at June 9, 2006 10:21 AMshoulda stayed in bed
what the hell
im here anyway
paddle out
duck dive the frigid spray
peak rises.. paddle paddle fizzled away
big one coming ... no ramp, close out
finally mount a left shoulder
pop up and pump pump pump
ah hell
shoulda stayed in bed
Those j.e. photos are sick. At lot more intriguing than the avereg surf pic.
I don't think the sign-in/refresh thing is that bad at all. All lot of the funny anon one liners are gone for now and that's too bad, but in a couple months I bet the site is back up to 100 comments a day and death threats to e. I thinks its a nice change for now.
Can't wait for the 2' blow windswell tomorrow. Seperates the men from the boys. The women from the girls.

I enjoy your words and photos.I am occasional visitor/poster.but I enjoy the comments and the general good vibe out here.
That Cinnamon Rainbows shot yesterday is a chilly
very shallow spot rarely surfed.
Dave has some great Tavarua shots from his recent trip .
Oh man gotta love the lyrics on Neil Youngs new CD
Peace
Its ok to name this spot.

you guys are stoked down there.
Posted by: bajel at June 9, 2006 12:15 PMyeah, english's photography really captures the energy of (good) surfing in a way alot does not. it's awesome. thanks for the link, e.
Posted by: steamwand at June 9, 2006 12:26 PMtwo pees, i think.
e, IMO the refresh thing isn't that bad. I only have to do it once after signing in. Sometimes it remembers me and holds my sign in status for a few days, sometimes not. Also, if you select "Remember me" sometimes it doesn't stick.
The "Dave Nelson Portfolio Series" on surfline.com is pretty nice, captures the essence of the SC scene. Was going to link out some photos to the blog but Surfline articles run on Flash (you can't grab a photo URL). So if'n ya haven't...go check it.
Posted by: Ancient Jetties at June 9, 2006 12:34 PMI posted an hour ago, it showed up, now it is gone... Weird.
Posted by: mexi at June 9, 2006 12:46 PMI take what I said back. After looking at that Dave Nelson portfolio, those english photos look a little bland. I love that basic-color-spray painted-board aesthetic and with that color flash, it makes it look even more brilliant. (or maybe its something else he does but I don't know jack about photography) Some of those SC guys can huck the biggest airs in seemingly gutless surf. Harbor mouth night surfing? Yikes.
Posted by: obro at June 9, 2006 01:21 PMAnd Mr. Nelson, you have a beautiful wife.

Posted by: toneman at June 10, 2006 09:22 AMany signs of that south swell?
Posted by: toneman at June 10, 2006 09:55 AMNo signs of a south swell yet. Not much sign of any type swell for that matter.
I think I saw Dale Webster this am paddle out at the south end. The waves were knee high, mushy and windblown. I swore I would paddle out no matter what, but... Momma told me not to swear.

second that dave Nelson set of photos - big fun - love the fancy night shots...
Posted by: reefboy at June 11, 2006 08:24 AMGreat. Not only is deadwood going to be prematurely cancelled, its going to be replaced by a show about surfing.
From nytimes
"In mid-May, even as the promotional push for the new season began, word leaked that HBO was going to forgo a fourth season, after it had promised Mr. Milch only six episodes (the usual is 12) and Mr. Milch passed. Chris Albrecht, the chairman of HBO, said the decision was a complicated one. He and Carolyn Strauss, the president of HBO's entertainment division, had attended a meeting with Mr. Milch about his next show, "John From Cincinnati," about surfers living on the polluted border between California and Mexico."
I liked NYPD Blue, I liked Deadwood, I'll undoubtedly like this new show - along with the rest of the US. Time to buy real estate iImperial Beach.
Posted by: obro at June 11, 2006 11:07 AMAt least its not about a surfer from sf. Its probably a good story and hbo usually makes good tv. I think its mostly due to the accurate and realistic dialogue.
