Posted by: at November 2, 2005 09:48 AMI ventured out this morning even though it was pretty ugly and nasty out. It started to clean up a little about 7:30. I captured a couple of waves and am happier to have gotten my morning shower with mother ocean.

Posted by: Mexi at November 2, 2005 10:10 AME, Your little live for the moment comment yesterdat inspired me to paddle out 15 minutes before sunset last night, I scored some nugs too. Thanks.
Make that 6 foot...
Posted by: Mexi at November 2, 2005 10:11 AMI made it out for 45 minutes late in the afternoon yesterday. Waves were clean and had a little power. A long paddle out but not difficult at all. This am looked oooguly. We need offshores, NOW!

P.S.
Posted by: surfseeker7 at November 2, 2005 11:49 AME, "meeting"? I thought you did niceness professionally? Don't you just make, like, tons of cash writing this blog 5 days a week? ;-)
I saw guys getting shacked yesterday somewhere in SCland. Most everywhere was small, including where I was, but I could look over and see the regular crew tearing it up only a few hundred yards away. I only wish I had caught a ride half as good as what I watched.
The wind was onshore until around 4pm, then the fog and cold air brought offshores until sundown. Brrr did it get cold.
Posted by: steve at November 2, 2005 12:03 PMNo wind problems yesterday afternoon but the current was another story. Waves chopping sideways made the session pretty tough.
Posted by: Walker at November 2, 2005 12:38 PMB-Stah - I still can't believe your moving away. Your forecasts rule. Hopefully a new job awaits you which provides you with plenty of vacation time so you can access A+ conditions several times during the year, anywhere in the world!! You've taken your quote of not traveling outside of NorCal for waves in November to a new extreme!
Posted by: traut at November 2, 2005 12:43 PMBlakestah,
Looked at your site this a.m. Where are you moving to?

Posted by: at November 2, 2005 01:23 PMThanks E for the housekeeping...
Posted by: Dennis at November 2, 2005 01:23 PMThey look perty...on a wall maybe...but in the line up?
What's with all of these lame retro boards? There are about 20 guys who can surf'em with any style but yet I see more of them than anything nowadays.
Posted by: Slurpy at November 2, 2005 01:41 PMYes they look cool...but there is a reason that designs changed. I agree they help you with your footing/style...but most of the people I see surfing them aren't "fine tuning" they are trying to get past "beginner" and retros aren't going to get'em there.
Slurpy, I agree to an extent. I've been surfing for more than 20 yeas and I use a fish a lot these days. I think I surf much better on my normal short boards and log, but the fish is so fucking cool feeling. It teaches flow and trim, instead of snap and vert surfing. Some days I feel like kicking myself for taking the thing out but others days I'm stoked to ride it.

Posted by: Mexi at November 2, 2005 01:49 PMSlurpy,
those retro boards are the trend right now, get one brah. also, buy a Phish t-shirt, and see you at Burning Man next year. we can hang out and be "different" together.

Posted by: a friend at November 2, 2005 02:25 PMB-stah. I will miss your reports too. They are always accurate. Good luck in your endeavors. Where are you going?
Posted by: John Sandy at November 2, 2005 02:37 PMDanny Hess' boards are REALLY nice, both in how they look and how they ride. And he really RIPS on them. For anyone interested, check them out. It is definitely NOT just for quads/fish.
Posted by: blakestah at November 2, 2005 02:50 PMChewbacca rips Cuyucos and Morro Rock on a regular basis. Very otter-like when wet, despite his immensity. Seen it. Always fucking dropping in. Androids and most humans make him vex. He's grown quite irritable and bitter due to all the yeti/bigfoot comparisons and mischaracterizations.
Posted by: Hung Solow at November 2, 2005 03:02 PMChaka, a proto-human with severaly stunted growth, surfs SF. Easily distracted by shiny metal objects, furrowed brow, sports dually quizzical/angry visage almost nonstop. Goes big in storm surf, claims OG local status, pre-Muwekma Ohlone Indian tribe and shit. It would be impossible to get any more local than that.
I know you've seen him too. Sponsored???

Posted by: bagel at November 2, 2005 04:19 PMSome time back there was posted the SF Skyline executed in Jello.
Looking at that picture, I couldn't help but think of the jewels in the Sleestack ruins from Land of the Lost.
Marshall, Will, and Holly, on a routine expedition, then the greatest earthquake everknown.
High on the rapids, it swept their tiny raft, and plunged it down a 1,000 feet below.
To the laaaaaaaand of the Lost, lost, lost, lost.

Posted by: phil at November 2, 2005 04:29 PMHeaded down Lincoln to da beach @ around 7. Nasty. Ended up flying one of those huge, scary kites with the Kitemaster. He was rocking 4 at once. In case you wondered what is up with that guy, here's the account. Nothing earth-shattering, but more info than I had before today.
