Gloomday morning.

Onshore and crappy.
A few suckout sections if you're amping for surf.
Maybe some quick air-drop takeoffs into lurchy little quick-pits?
Waves on offer.
Nobody dawn-patrolling the north end around 6:45.
The last few days have been pretty full-on summer in the city.
Found a few down-the-liners over the weekend.
Lerm and I surfed some abysmal slop saturday afternoon.
yar.
Looks like a moderate 3ft 15second south is running, from 195 degrees.
There also looks to be a growing 6ft 8second windswell that might fill in over the next few days.
hmmmm...
Checked out Mollusk surf shop. The dudes running the place were very friendly and good-vibed. Seems that they're keyed into the surf/skate/art world and are friendly with Thomas Campbell, Barry McGee, Andy Davis, John Trippe and other art-scene luminaries. They had some cool t-shirts and a bunch of retro fishes and single-fins. Worth a check-out if you enjoy classic boards and interesting surf shops.

Does anyone have info on a good house to rent for a week in Kauai at the end of Feb 2006? Preferably on Halanei Bay but i'm open to any advice or suggestions. It'll be 6 of us. THANKS!!

Good waves for the contest in Reunion (i wish they took more lineup shots and less closeups)

I know this isn't quite the right venue for this, but we fostered a set of kittens for a friend of mine who does cat rescue and have a couple that we're still trying to give away. They're all black and super mellow. Really friendly. Email me if you're interested.

Checked the beach this morning around 6:00-6:15. I guess I thought that the wind report was lying to me or something so I checked despite the onshore report. That, or I just haven't seen the ocean in days.

Anyway, it sucked. 2 dudes giving it a go in front of Wise. Otherwise, it sucked.

Transport me to mainland mex right now! Pffffff......

Damn, didn't work, guess I will just cruise the internet again today and work.

Ok, E, on Kauai, check out this place: www.hanaleihale.com. Debbie Haraguchi is the name of the women that owns it. It is basically a studio below her house. 3 beds, 1 bath, 1 TV, a micro, a BBQ, no oven, 70 yards to Pinetrees, shower in front. Highly recommended. It is pretty cheap in comparison to many other pads around there. If you want more details, email me. Also, try a search on www.vbro.com and select Hanalei. You will find tons of shit for rent on their.

As for surf spots, hmmmmm, I don't think there is any surf around Hanalei. But email if you want some deets.

kauai-i don't know how swank your trying to go, but we stayed in this place a couple of years ago and loved it. very low key studio in a gorgeous garden yard, perfect for a couple. it's right across the street from tunnels, great right reef break wave that broke my fav board ever. it's a really nice 15 min. drive from hanalei over two one-lane bridges. we went to hanalei everyday, because there was good challenging surf there for me at both pine trees and out at the point and a perfect mellow, longboard wave for my girl at the pier/wharf.
anyway, it's through the haena link on this website and then HA12. There's a ton of other options on this website: www.aakauairentals.com. I think we chose this one because it was the cheapest-around $500 for the week in 2003. I found the woman who does the rentals, Acacia, to be totally cool and easy to work with. Have fun! One of the most beautiful places on earth! ahh, the smell of it. The flowers and the sea. Looks like there's gonna be a little swell for me in kona next week. stoked!

On reunion/pro surf contests: bias for the surfers sponsored by the promoters of the contest? can believe o'rafferty beat kelly.

Hey, surfseeker7 -- wanna trade a couple just to see how things work out?

Posted by: limevoodoo at June 27, 2005 10:41 AM

June gloom spelled most certain doom
Early morning run, well before the sun
Waves to be had, stoked, groovy and rad
Now back in my cubicle
Surfing this morning was beautiful

Woke up late, but made the drive to Westside SC this morning anyway just to check things out. There were intermittent peeling head-high sets, but the waves were generally kinda soft. Did see one guy get barrelled at a spot that likes low low tide, but he and his buddy were not catching that many rides otherwise. I ended up just watching things develop for an hour and then drove home, unsatisfied.

Damn, i'm super tired.

Posted by: MSG at June 27, 2005 11:24 AM

i musta been drunk when i said i'd stop drinking.

Posted by: at June 27, 2005 11:26 AM

seeing a down-blip in the wind at the buoy, i tried the north end. still a little windy at the beach, so it was crumbly and bumpy, but surfable; mostly drop-and-out, but you could find a fun one if lucky. no one out when i got there, a pack way north when i left.

saturday morning was forgettable, except for a clownish wave: fell on the take off, bodysurfed a bit, and got back on for a little ride.

I'm flying into puerto vallarta on wed. and driving south through colima and michocan for 5 days. We're planning on hitting up pascuales and/or la ticla. I hear it's a 5 hour trek from PV to Pascuales. Anyplace worth surfing between PV and Pascuales? Any other info on other spots along this stretch of coast would be much appreciated? You can email me if you don't want to spill the beans on the site.

Also, I've heard that it's fairly sketchy to drive at night along coastal Mexico. Especially through the bandito country of michocan. Any thoughts on this matter?

There was just another shark attack in Florida this time in the Gulf of Mexico. Just 95 miles from where the girl died this weekend.

i know craigslist missed connections are totally cheesy, and i swear this is the first one i have ever done, but you seemed cute and nice, which is rare, so i figured what the hell...we talked briefly in the atlanta airport. you were flying back from your family reunion in philadelphia, i believe. anyway, i know you probably don't read these, but i thought it was worth a shot. if you're interested in grabbing a drink sometime, give me a holler. i hope you made it out into the water since your return.

Posted by: pez at June 27, 2005 01:09 PM

I am looking for an old (1980's) thruster. i want one 6'5" or thereabouts, you know the shapes, they are a bit fuller than what we see now, and in reasonable condition. i really love that vintage of boards. Can contact me at heymj73(at)yahoo(dot)com
Thanks!

Hey e-
My bro Adam from Hanalei has an insane pad for rent right at Pine Trees. Hit me with an email and I'll give you his contact info.

Posted by: blaster at June 27, 2005 08:52 PM

jahmir: better surf to be had a bit further south from ticla to nexpa. beautiful coastline too. high cliffs, broad beaches, etc.

don't drive at night. don't hang out in towns, etc, etc. otherwise not too bad.

ticla's a scene. wave's good, but its a full-on gringo campground with all sorts of freaks and kooks. watch your stuff if you camp.

oh yeah: urchins, urchins, urchins.

:)
