Yup

Lerm and i shared a peak.
Nobody else around.
Waves cruised in here and there.
A few were nice and round.

Dolphins played and lolled about.
Arcing out of the water.
The dorsel fins an eery site
A reminder of the predator.

Wedging lefts came loping in.
Pick and choose with care.
Set your rail, down the face,
Some barrels you could snare.

Days weeks months and years.
Lives go passing by.
The little things are the juicy bits
Find em and suck em dry.

A few stinkeye photos from last week

A dolphin came right up and kissed me this morning. Small waves, smooth water, good exercise. Befriended a baby sea lion, too. The dolphins tended to be paired up in a lover's-only kinda way.

it's not the size of the air that matters. is it? Anyway, big deal. So he lives in Hawaii and surfs all over the world first class paid for by his sponsors. So he is one of the top world surfers. So he has cash and the women love him. But is he truly happy? I'd be.

Good discussion yesterday. Some much groovy positive posts, then it turns negative, but about a place, not a person. And no one calls bullshit about people's hairy tales.

Thank God the troll finally woke up, because we all need that reminder that even though everyone tries hard. There are still assholes in the world. If anything, it gives us some insight into maybe whats going through the head of the people holding the guns, or the ones doing the hassling and raping.

GIONI - Checked the pics and again, you were shooting the right just North of the street where you parked. I was on the left just to the South.

And don't nobody mention that street, because I live three houses down from it. Not that I own a gun or have it in me to rape.

It's just that you never know who is going to show up. Damn, a month ago it was the World Champ on my street:

Now why he and Shane were up at 41st is anyone's guess. Maybe they were checking out the young hotties at Saint Ignacious. Or perhaps that explained the mock golf swing of Shane - they were going to hit a few chips on the School field.

Oh yeeeeah! Fun. El Sal, Hawaii, Indo, Costa are just waiting for you to show up. All you're worth these days is about 86.666 cents on the dollar.
All this talk talk talk and E going on about the this and the that of surfing really turns my stomach. Here these guys dischevel their fantasy surf industry exploitation bullshit onto the the others via this here .commiewebnet and the rest of us reading about our "IT" are wretching. This website and E and "Stah" and all the rest of you interlopers. This is so lame and I am a sad fuck indeed for writing in - fully exposed and not all that alone. Fucking cuntsucking soul sucking bastards as if we fucking need this.
So the soul goes anon and the waves and the spots fully exposed written about by a bunch of freaking dangerous "surfer" transplants hellbent on the cock and big hairy balls they carry in the front door with them. HI! HOLA! IT'S ME! I'M HERE!!!!!!!! Pro bags, short boards, Oakley shaedes, etc. etc..
Here they are attempting to mold the beach into what THEY espouse. Whoring out these specific wavelands in his ' I am the new white jesus' from Philly waynessness. Judas surfing wannabe words; every single detail, nuance and idiosyncracy of all the things we locals have worked hard at keeping secret about; the who and what we are.
You steal the dream of California in your thoughts - in your number ever advancing towards us from the east.
The earth breathes and we are one with it -. Yes.
WE ARE the inheritors, this is our place, this is where we grew up and discovered the things you constantly expose, however innocent or inocuous you might think it is you '21st century heretic druids with your serepenteen tongues.

Posted by: MCC at March 17, 2005 11:58 AM

Low tide was reallllllly crowded mid-beach. Doesn't anybody have a job?!

BUT, damn it was fun. Why is everyone calling these "small" waves? I insist that these were NONSMALL waves. Anyway, Patrick is evidently the patron saint of the barrel.

Posted by: kloo at March 17, 2005 11:58 AM

Copy......and......paste.....Then added a few states like Vagina and the numbers went up in Zoo York.

In regards to Carissa Moore, I surfed with that girl like 4 years ago for the first time. She used to paddle out to Kaisers with her dad sitting in the channel taking pictures and directing traffic. He would yell at a bodyboarder that dropped in behind her. It was a bit distrubing at first but she has turned into a really good surfer. A few years after, she is getting covered up on these tiny waves as they dump towards the channel. The next year, throwing fins out. Once again, a bit distrubing to watch a young surfer develop right in front of your eyes knowing that you will never develop that quickly being 4 times her body weight......

So, I produce some offspring to pimp her when he is old enough.....Na, just kidding. Ok, not really.......Besides, John John has dibs anyway. He called it first.

I had lots o fun, snagged some good setties and rebruised my ribs. Saw some nice barrels, dolphins and the coasties 'hoovering'. I say hoovering cause the sound was droning, annoying and disturbed the tranquil solitude of my peaceful morning.
But how cool is it when they do a flyby? Saw alex paddle out and snag a set right away and style it. Whatever!?! peace out

Love this post and song of Simple Ben.

Walkin' on a dusty road in the countryside of ease
I heard a song driftin' on the gently blowin' breeze

Just give me sunshine through the Autumn
sweet snow to the Spring
Corn by the water of an old mill stream
and you give me all
you give me all

He said his name was Simple Ben but not what I'd believe
Christened by the way he thought and not the way he lived
I've seen the best and worst that we have here on our earth
And finally decided on the things that I get worth

Just give me sunshine through the Autumn
sweet snow to the Spring
Corn by the water of an old mill stream
and you give me all
you give me all

Go ARIZONA!!!!

Walkin' on a dusty road in the countryside of ease
I heard a song driftin' on the gently blowin' breeze

Sunshine through the Autumn
sweet snow to the Spring
Corn by the water of an old mill stream
and you give me all, you give me all

A barrow pushed by a little man came rollin' from the west
He sang a song as he stepped along until we drew abreast
Well hello there my friend, I see you're on the road here just like me
Why don't we stop and rest a while and I'll boil a pot of tea
Just give me sunshine through the Autumn
sweet snow to the Spring
Corn by the water of an old mill stream
and you give me all, you give me all

He said his name was Simple Ben but not what I'd believe
Christened by the way he thought and not the way he lived
I've seen the best and worst that we have here on our earth
And finally decided on the things that I get worth

Just give me sunshine through the Autumn
sweet snow to the Spring
Corn by the water of an old mill stream
and you give me all, you give me all

I asked if he had seen the great jets fly across the sky
He said he'd seen the smallest bird learnin' how to fly
Have you seen the bridges stretched across the bays
I've seen the smallest fish alive dyin' in the haze
Have you seen the massive buildin's reached towards the sun
I've seen the fields of barronness from the work that man has done
What about the dams and weirs that feed the countryside
I've seen the brownness of the grass when the dams and weirs run -

Just give me sunshine through the Autumn
sweet snow to the Spring
Corn by the water of an old mill stream
and you give me all, you give me all

What about the fertile lands where nothin' once would grow
I've seen the lands to the north and south under tons of ice and snow
Have you seen the jungles so thick that a man can't go
I've seen a farmer plough a field with nothin' but a hoe
You must admit that the motor was a boom to all mankind
The air is sweeter ahead than a hundred miles behind

Just give me sunshine through the Autumn
sweet snow to the Spring
Corn by the water of an old mill stream
and you give me all, you give me all

What about the time we saved to go from place to place
I've seen my life go by so fast I scarce recall a face
You must have learned a lot by now about your fellow man
I've seen the waves that break upon the beaches made of sand
What about the beauty of great art that men have done
I've seen the shapes of mountains up against the mornin' sun

You give me sunshine through the Autumn
sweet snow to the Spring
Corn by the water of an old mill stream
and you give me all, you give me all

Ben do you believe in God and the words that preachers pray
I've seen myself in a still, calm pool and I've heard a donkey bray
Don't you need the tender warmth of a lady in your bed
I used to know a pretty woman who liked the stars above her head

Can you give me sunshine through the Autumn
sweet snow to the Spring
Corn by the water of an old mill stream
and you give me all, you give me all

Friend, thank you for your company, but I must be on my way
The road is growin' shorter as the sun sets on my day
We'll have to meet again some time to rest and share some tea
If you hear this song when you're walkin' along,
you gonna know who it's gonna be

You give me sunshine through the Autumn
sweet snow to the Spri-ing
Corn by the water of an old mill stream
and you give me all, you give me all

EL34s or 6CA7s?

An Irishman who had a little too much to drink is
driving home from the city one night and, of course,
his car is weaving violently all over the road.
A cop pulls him over. "So," says the cop to the
driver, where have ya been?"
"Why, I've been to the pub of course," slurs the
drunk.
"Well," says the cop, "it looks like you've had quite
a few to drink this evening."
"I did all right," the drunk says with a smile.
"Did you know," says the cop, standing straight and
folding his arms across his chest, "that a few
intersections back, your wife fell out of your car?"
"Oh, thank heavens," sighs the drunk. "For a minute
there, I thought I'd gone deaf,"

Posted by: paddy o'waverider at March 17, 2005 05:14 PM

sick amp kdalle. those music mans are rad. Heaps of folk swear by the EL34s. I've never heard the 6CA7s. Either way you're psyched for some new tubes.

My one question is why do people need giant cabs with four speakers? Aren't most gigs through a PA? I only turned my 1 12" Concert amp up to 3 at our show the other night and it was plenty loud. I've actually never really had to turn it past 3. I've heard the tone is thicker and richer with 4 speakers in the cab? I guess it's also good when the venue has no PA or when you're playing outside.. or if you want to play really really really loud!

I'm pretty happy with the Sovtek 6L6 WXTs i got. Lot's of people diss on them but my amp can growl and sing with them. stoked.

Posted by: e at March 17, 2005 05:16 PM

I think all were saying is; get a new fuckin schtick BVB. The shit did'nt work with the PSAA back in '89 and the shit still ain't working in 2005. I mean at least post some negative flyers on some telephone poles like you used to in the 80's, I'm sure your back ain't what it used to be but maybe you got some cronies that could help out. I mean its good to have an ego but its better to have a brain along with it. Your posts are about 1000 times less entertaining than they were a year ago and they've lost they're magic now that we all know you have no credentials, ie;

a.You werent born anywhere near San Francisco
b.You cant surf

Posted by: BVB critic at March 17, 2005 05:27 PM

6L6s are real nice. My amp can use them because of very high voltage, 700 watts. Right now I have EL34s but was tempted to try 6CA7s. Thought I'd get a blusier sound but I'd have to rebias and am nervous about an amp this old. It's a '74 and I've had it since '78. Lots of bashing in the back of vans on the way to gigs.

Back in the day many of the small clubs didn't have PAs good enough for miking. We'd play loud as hell. I often had the 130watt amp cranked near full. Midsize places like the IBeam, Slim's and the Keystone had good PAs so we'd mike there.

Actually I always though a 12" gave a full sound. The 10" really penetrate. In Zasu Pitts we had 2 guitars, bass, drums, keyboard, 2 saxes, 2 trumpets and 4 backup singers. Good to have a loud, clean sound to get through all that. Two of the former member are nearly deaf now. One started H.E.A.R.

http://www.hearnet.com

I love it loud but be careful!

Posted by: kdalle at March 17, 2005 05:33 PM

kdalle -- I ran into a guy a few weeks ago walking the dog in Buena Vista Park who raved about the custom earplugs he got through H.E.A.R. Expensive but probably worth it. I picked up some much cheaper Etymotic earplugs (http://www.etymotic.com/ephp/er20.asp) that I've been digging on. Much better than stuffing a chunk of foam in your ears...

shut the fuck up BVB. You're a transplant from LA. It says so right on your little interview. I was bashing transplants from LA long before the east coast trannies came, so again shut the fuck up. Go surf some place more manly than frickin fort point. There are shitty OB beachbreaks all over the west coast with no one on them. Surf one of them by yourself and shut the fuck up. Or take up some other sport where you can compare yourself with another being so you can be humbled by how much you suck. I'm born and raised here, spent years on the north shore, hung out with laird's family, dudes who were invited to the eddie, etc. and I don't give a fuck. Surfing big waves is something you just do, it's not like some manly, man shit or something. get over it.
